Old Town Clayton Announcements

CANCELLED! There will be NO annual Old Town Clayton Neighborhood Association meeting next month due to Covid 19 safety concerns, social distancing, and restrictions for large gatherings. Hopefully, our popular Old Town annual meeting will be scheduled next year without any drama!

The food pantry run by the St. Vincent de Paul Society is located at St. Joseph Church. They continue to need canned goods to feed the hungry.  The pantry shelves are empty again. Please consider picking up some extra canned goods the next time you are at the store and help someone who needs it! You can drop off food at the entrances to the church, or if you prefer, you can write a check to St. Joseph and include SVdP in the memo line. Thank you for all your support!

In other news, members of the Old Town Board recently approved and pledged to make a $1,000 donation to support the new Maryland Park project.  It will be funded out of our Old Town checking account in the name of the Old Town Clayton Neighborhood Association. The future Maryland Park is a pocket park,  located in Old Town, adjacent to the library on Maryland Avenue. Our association’s donation will help kick-start the Clayton Community Foundation's fundraising efforts, with the hope to inspire more donations.  Stay tuned, there will be much more exciting news and details about this park from the city of Clayton in the coming weeks! All Old Town residents and others will be encouraged to support this Clayton project by submitting a donation in any amount, to make this park become a reality. Maryland Park will become the twelfth Clayton park.

Marta Martin is our newest Old Town board member. Welcome Marta!

Lastly, Cheryl Verde is stepping down as President of the Neighborhood Association after serving in that position for 20 plus years.  She recently moved out of Old Town but will remain as interim President until the end of the year to assist with the board's transition.
