Public Forums to Continue the Master Plan

The Parks & Recreation Department is currently undertaking further refinement of the Master Plan that was completed in 2007. In order to do so, a series of Public Forums are scheduled to solicit input from residents concerning potential enhancements related to program areas in Shaw Park and Hanley Park. We invite you to attend any or all of the following forums to let us know what you think.

Shaw Park
Thursday, June 17: 7:00 - 9:00 pm

Hanley House
Wednesday, June 23: 7:00 - 9:00 pm

Mayor's Youth Advisory Council

Do you know a teen Interested in a future in government, politics or public service?

The City of Clayton is seeking energetic, engaged students to be part of our city's civic discourse. As part of the Mayor's Youth Advisory Council, high school juniors and senior will get a behind the scenes look at the workings of city government and connect with city leaders one-on-one. They will participate in the conversations that shape our community, adding student perspective as they sit on city commissions in an advisory capacity.

Requirements:

  1. Must be a resident of the City of Clayton attending Clayton High School or a private school or a non-resident attending Clayton High School.
  2. Must be entering the 11th or 12th grade in fall of 2010. Juniors will serve a 2-year term; seniors will serve until graduation.
  3. Must maintain good citizenship.
  4. Must demonstrate community interest and a willingness to serve the youth and community of the City of Clayton.
Selection Process:

Eight youth regular members and up to three alternate members will be selected from applications submitted by May 31.

CBD Master Plan/Retail Study Update

Consultant Sasaki Associates, Inc. in association with AECOM will present the draft CBD (Central Business District) Master Plan and Retail Study at a public meeting where the consultants will request comments and input from the audience.

Six areas in Clayton are proposed for development opportunities. The Meramec Gateway presentation should be particularly interesting to Old Town residents because it involves development plans on N. Meramec. Your input is welcome.

Sasaki Associates of Boston was selected to update and revise the Central Business District (CBD) portion of the Business District Master Plan and produce a retail and marketing study and action plan for the CBD. Data collection and interpretation performed by consultants from Sasaki Associates and Economics Research Associates/AECOM is well underway. A public meeting to review findings and solicit feedback from attendants via a charette was held on January 21, 2010.
