Preparations
for Clayton’s centennial in 2013 include developing a long range
Strategic Plan. The process is called C the Future. Because community
input is an important part of the process, the City of Clayton launched
ClaytonConnects, an interactive planning website, to obtain feedback
from residents. Residents are asked to visit www.ClaytonConnects.com to share ideas, provide feedback and submit comments. Clayton Century Foundation History Speaker Series, free
presentations on a wide variety of local topics, continues with Clayton's Fire
Chief Mark Thorp. Chief Thorp will present the history of the Clayton Fire
Department and will detail the story of its growth from volunteer firemen to the
award winning department it is today.

I hope that you will be able to stop by tomorrow morning for the annual Hanley House Herb Sale from 8:00 am to 10:00 am on Saturday, April 28th. All heirloom varieties are featured this year. Herbs will be sold for $4 each and all proceeds benefit the Hanley House.

For Ward III, the aldermanic candidate is Alex Berger. For the BOE, three candidates are running for two seats: Darryl Higuchi, Jane Klamer and Lily Raymond.

The public is invited to view our Clayton History Society's new display exhibit of Clayton artifacts and memorabilia. This was a fun project as Clayton prepares for its 100th centennial celebration in 2013. Be sure to stop by the library before the end of the month.
If you have any Clayton memorabilia or photos to share with the Clayton History Society, please contact me. The Clayton History Society is currently exploring options for a permanent museum space to showcase our collection.

We encourage everyone to consider putting together a table of friends for the upcoming Clayton Century Foundation (CCF) History Trivia Night. While this is a fund raising event, it is also a great "friend-raising" event.There is a number of great prizes and raffle items including cash prizes for the first and second place tables, and gift baskets from Ruth's Chris, Kaldi's, Extra Virgin, The St Louis Zoo, and many more. Your participation will help CCF History as they strive to preserve the history and artifacts of our community, support the preservation and educational programs at The Hanley House, and publish the newest book on the City of Clayton to coincide with our centennial celebration.
